No First Friday Mass Wolstanton 7 July

Unfortunately there will not be the usual First Friday Mass this Friday, 7 July at St. Wulstan's, Wolstanton.  There will be a Mass the following First Friday 4 Aug.

The sad news is this will be Fr. Dykes' last First Friday Mass as he is being transferred to Lichfield.  His parishioners and the local Trad. Rite worshippers will be sorry to see him go, and he has celebrated the Friday and Feast Day Masses for a good number of years.

Trad. Mass Feast SS Peter & Paul

Trad. Mass Feast SS Peter & Paul

There will be a Mass in the Trad. Rite at Our Lady’s, Swynnerton at 7 pm on Thursday June 29, the Feast of Ss Peter & Paul.  Our thanks to Fr. Paul and the Scorey boys who will be serving.

Yesterday, details were sent out about the Confirmations in the Trad. Rite at Our Lady’s Shrine, Warrington.  There, at (to-be) Fr. Alex Stewart’s first Mass in the EF on the Sunday following (11 am, 18 June), Alison and Richard Cotton’s son Jude will be making his first Holy Communion.  A wonderful combination of events.

Busy Few Weeks Ahead

This is an update for a busy few weeks ahead.  As regards our main Church for Masses in the Trad. Rite, Sunday Masses at 6 pm will go ahead as usual.  There is a change to the Saturday 10 am Low Masses at Our Lady’s Swynnerton.  There will not be a Mass this Saturday (see message below*) as Father Paul will be attending confirmations in the Traditional rite in Our Lady’s Shrine, Warrington (Buttermarket St.), beginning 11 am.   The Mass, if you will, is transferred to the following Saturday, 10 am 24 June.  The fortnightly Masses continue as normal from the following scheduled Mass (1 July).  The day after, Sunday 2 July, there is the option of going to the annual LMS Holywell Pilgrimage Mass & Procession to the Well, 2 pm.  Three weeks later there is the annual LMS Summer School, at Pantasaph, viz:

2017 Summer School, for boys and girls aged 11-18 - Sunday 23rd July to Sunday 30th July 2017. This will be held once again at the Franciscan Retreat Centre in Pantasaph, North Wales

*Some further details:  Dan Hitchins mentioned the ordinations in the Traditional Rite by Abp McMahon OP, next Saturday in his article in the current Catholic Herald.  The rector, whom I’ve known for some years (did an article on him for a ‘Universe’ magazine 4/5 years ago), Fr. de Malleray, has asked me to do an article on the event (includes a local lad from the Wirral whom I know, Deacon Alex Stewart.  The article will also cover his first Mass on the Sunday, 18 June, in the EF rite, first blessings, and the Corpus Christi procession following in the afternoon.  As I understand it, my own diocesan Bishop, Mark Davies, will be at the event after confirming a number of confirmandi in the traditional rite on the Wednesday, 7 pm, June 14, at Ss PPP (‘The Dome of Home’) New Brighton.

The Fatima promoting organisation (Secretary in UK: Donal Anthony Foley) has asked contacts to do whatever we can to make known this unique and most important ecclesial event, at the opening of the Fatima Centenary year 2017. The WAF hope that as many people as possible will come, but if unable to attend, please join with us in prayers on the day, and we are hoping it will be broadcast by EWTN UK.

MASS CANCELLATION 15 JAN.

Unfortunately the Latin Mass at 6pm at Swynnerton this Sunday (15 Jan) is cancelled.  Fr. Chavasse is away and I ‘ve not been able to obtain a replacement priest.

The Saturday morning Mass on the 14th. at 10 am still goes ahead, and things are back to normal from the 22 Jan.
