A separate website for the Church where weekly Latin Masses are held has been constructed by Benedict Scorey, who has been an altar server since a young boy, and in recent years a regular MC before and throughout his years at University.  He continues to serve as he undertakes post-grad work and study.

Access to this website is via

Missa Cantata at Swynnerton, Sept. & Cot.
The forthcoming Sunday Latin Masses at Our Lady’s, Swynnerton (6 pm), on 15 Sept., 22 Sept. and 13 Oct. will each be a Missa Cantata.  The first will be celebrated by Fr. Dominic of the Birmingham Oratory, the latter two by Fr. Stephen Goodman from Wolverhampton.  Please pass on this information to anyone interested or regulars not on-line.

Beryl Terry Has Died

Beryl Terry, whom most of have known for a number of years, and who had been painfully ill for some time, died in the early hours of yesterday at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Stone.  Mercifully, as Dame Benedicta (who sends us her regards) confirms, she died peacefully.  She was the regular and exemplary organist for a long time at the Sunday 3pm Latin Masses at various venues, latterly at the Abbey Church at Oulton, next to where she lived and where she was resident organist until illness forced her to retire.

Her Funeral will be in the traditional Latin Requiem rite, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, 12 December in Oulton Abbey Church.  The celebrant and assistants are expected to be Fr. Anton Guziel, Fr. Andrew Southwell and Fr. Julian Booth. The music and singing are yet to be arranged.  Her body will be received into the Church the day before, 11 Dec. at 3.30pm with prayers and a short service (most likely in English).

There will be Low Masses in the Trad. Latin Rite at Our Lady’s Swynnerton  on All Saints’ Day at 7pm. And on All Souls Day at 6pm.  However, there will not be a Mass on the Saturday (3rd.) morning.  Fortnightly Saturday Low Masses (10am) will resume on 17 Nov.

Incidentally, I’m recently back from Fatima where I was able to get to several Trad. Rite Latin Masses (hard to find) and I offer useful reference.  They are regularly held (USA priest living nearby at present) in a chapel in a town centre hotel, and visitors are welcome: the ‘Solar Da Marta’ Hotel, owner Mr Armando Mendez, a very devout man with excellent English and seven children.
