Yesterday the LMS issued a press release announcing the success of the sixth Catholic Summer School (www.stcatherinestrust.org) recently. It is available for viewing and as one who has taught on two of the Schools I readily endorse the value and importance of such opportunities for the Catholic young in this day and age.
There has also been a reminder from HQ about children and adults wishing to be confirmed in the traditional rite at St. James', Spanish Place, London, in November. Pictures of last year's confirmandi with the Bishop are available on the LMS website.

No Masses at CHeadle Aug. 29 and Sept. 19
There were tentative suggestions for Masses on these dates but in fact there will not be a Mass at Cheadle on either 29 Aug. or 19 Sept. The latter date of course is when Pope Benedict celebrates Mass in Birmingham and Cardinal Newman will be beatified.

Masses in August, Sept. & October
There will be Masses (Low, and perhaps the introduction of occasional Missa Cantata) every Sunday at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph's, Burslem near Stoke-on-Trent. There is also weekday Mass (Low) from Monday to Friday at St. Joseph's at 7 . 30 a.m. On Thursday evenings there is a Holy Hour with Benediction at 7 p.m.
The next Missa Cantata at Oulton Abbey near Stone is provisionally on Sept. 26. Provisionally there is a 3 p.m. Mass at St. Giles, Cheadle on 29 August, but please check beforehand unless confirmed later. Also at St. Giles, very provisionally, at 9 a.m. on Sept. 19 (as the Holy Father's Mass in Birmingham is at 10 a.m. and will be televised live, at least on EWTN, #SKY Channel 589).

Low Mass 7 pm - Aug 20 Wolstanton
There will be a Low Mass on Friday evening, Aug. 20, at 7 pm., at St. Wulstan's Church, Wolstanton. Our thanks to Fr. Dykes.
I would like to mention that I was at Downside Abbey during the week attending the Priests' Training Conference, the sixth such organised by the LMS. There, I was privileged to meet Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan, author of the important little book Dominus Est - It Is The Lord. He is a fine, humble priest and a truly remarkable bishop.

New Masses 13 & 15 August
The Missa Cantata proposed for 8th. August will now be celebrated at 3 p.m. at Oulton Abbey on 15 Aug., the Feast of the Assumption. Unfortunately our regular young server Josephmarie Dulston will not be assisting Fr. Howell as his family are moving to Reading where his father will take up a post at the Oratory School. It has been great to have their support over several years and we echo the thanks and blessings given by Fr. Dykes at the First Friday Mass at Wolstanton.
In response to an appeal by the LMS nationwide a (Low) Mass Offered for the Success of the Holy Father's Visit will be celebrated at 7 pm, Friday August 13th., at St. Wulstan's, Wolstanton.
Following on from the Message of July 12th., please check before venturing out for any Sunday Mass not at St. Joseph's, Burslem over the next three months. Incidentally an article on the Friars and their Order is in the current (Aug.) issue of the monthly Catholic Life.
New LMS WALSINGHAM WALK. Please check the national website for details of a forthcoming 2-day walking Traditional Pilgrimage to Walsingham. Alternatively details can be obtained from the organiser Paul Smeaton at paul.smeaton@hotmail.co.uk
