Family Day at St Joseph's

Next Sunday (Palm Sunday) will once again be family day at St. Joseph's. The theme for this month is 'The Divine Mercy'. The day starts at 2.30pm at St Joseph's presbytery (next door to the church). The day includes prayers and devotions, workshops and time for recreation and socialising. All are welcome, and I believe (though I haven't yet been to one) that there is something for everyone; it's not only aimed at families with young children.
The day concludes with Exposition, Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 4.30pm, followed by the usual 6pm Latin Mass.

Annual LMS Pilgrimage to York 24 March

The LMS York Pilgrimage inaugurated last year at YorkMinster (this year at the nearby Catholic Church), and procession through the streets commemorating the martyrdom of the Society's Patron, St. Margaret Clitherow, will take place this Saturday, March 24th.  For technical reasons, details will be found on the LMS National Website.

Unfortunately it would be virtually impossible to attend this as well as the Bishop's Solemn High Mass for the formal opening of the ICKSP Church of SS. Peter, Paul & Philomena at New Brighton the morning of the same day.

Presentation for Fr. Tynan's Golden Jubilee

Local LMS members and friends contributed handsomely for the presentation of a cheque and card to mark the 50th. year since his ordination (17 March) of Fr. Joseph Tynan.  Appropriately this was made after he had celebrated Mass in the Traditional Rite at St. Dominic's Church in Stone.  Fr. Tynan has celebrated the Old Rite for us for a good number of years, particularly when he was Parish Priest at The Good Shepherd Church in Blurton.

Bishop To Open Traditional Rite Order Church

A very major event is taking place at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday, 24 March at 10.30 a.m. in New Brighton in the Wirral.  Bishop Mark Davies is formally opening the rescued Church of St. Peter & Paul an& Philomena ('The Dome of Home') with a Solemn High Mass.  The church as you will know is the first in this country given to an Order (Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest) for the celebration of the Traditional Rite.  The Superior and Founder of the ICKSP, Msgr Wach will be there and afterwards there will be refreshments down the hill at the Floral Hall.
