Fr Kazimierz Stefek's Order

In the LMS Mass of Ages magazine just out, the Report for N. Staffs refers to Fr. K., the parish priest of St. Augustine's, Meir, newly celebrating a weekly Old Rite Mass, as belonging to the Order of St. Paul the Hermit, the OPSEE, which should in fact be the OSPPE. Apologies, and looking forward to Fr. K. next celebrating in his church at 7pm 26 Aug. when he returns from visiting family in Poland (The OSPPE run the National Marian shrine of Jasna Gora there).

Masses at Meir in August

There is a traditional rite Mass this Wednesday at 7pm, but there will not be Wednesday evening Masses at St. Augustine’s Meir on the 12 and 19 Aug., as Fr. Kazimierz is away.  They will resume the following Wednesday, 26 Aug. at 7 pm.

Fr. Tynan Has Died

Some sad news: Fr. Joseph Tynan whom most will remember well and fondly, has died (Sat. 25 July) at the nursing home by Oulton Abbey.  He served lovers of the Traditional Rite well for years, introducing a regular Sunday Mass to his parish church (The Good Shepherd) in Blurton, though the church has since closed.  He lived to the age of 88, having been a priest since 1962, ordained on St. Patrick’s Day.  There will be only a limited number of mourners allowed when the funeral in the Abbey chapel takes place (Aug 5).  A later archdiocese organised funeral is intended.  Dates unknown as yet, and a helpful contact might be his housekeeper Sally Buckley (07740-760906), whose mother was previously his housekeeper for thirty years.

Mass Returns to Swynnerton: New Mass at Meir

Our beloved Traditional Rite Latin Mass resumes on Sunday, 6pm 12 July at Our Lady’s Swynnerton.  There will be some restrictions, to be expected.  People will need to bring a mask (though Father Chavasse has some available), but Holy Communion will be received as normal during (not after) the Mass.  Further good news is that Fr. Kazimierz Stefek OSPPE, p.p. of St. Augustine’s in Meir, Stoke will be celebrating the traditional Mass each Wednesday at 7 pm, having said his first public Mass yesterday evening.

Masses Resuming at Swynnerton

Happy to inform you that the traditional Latin Mass at Our Lady’s, Swynnerton, will resume at 6pm on Sunday, 12 July.  Although Father does remind us that “for obvious reasons, things will not return to exactly what they were before all this began. For example, everyone is required to wear some form of face covering or mask while they are in church and there cannot be any singing. The congregation must use the  hand sanitiser provided on entering and leaving the church.  Because of social distancing not all the pews in church will be in use. We are required to have at least one steward who will indicate where people are to sit, depending on whether they are a family group, a couple or an individual. Also, the church has to be cleaned after each Mass. It goes without saying that it is impossible for me to do this all by myself. If our Mass is to be feasible, I will need some volunteers to help with stewarding and cleaning.”

Anyone interested in helping out should contact Father directly: email - Paul cpfc141@hotmail.com; ‘phone 01782-7996677, mobile 07786-883674.

Please pass on this information to anyone interested not on-line.
