Unfortunately it is most unlikely there will be the usual 6 pm Mass at Swynnerton this Sunday. Please 'phone first if you are thinking of travelling (01270-768144). Fr. Chavasse is doing okay and may be able to celebrate Jan. 4 in the New Year.
However, there are Masses on Monday 29 Dec. (St. Thomas of Canterbury) at 11 am,
Friday 2 Jan. (First Friday) at 7 pm, and Tuesday Jan 6 (Epiphany) at 7 pm, all at St. Wulstan's Church, Wolstanton, near Newcastle-under-Lyme. Many thanks to Fr. Anthony Dykes.

Mass Cancellation this Sunday 7 Dec.
Unfortunately Fr. Chavasse is unable
to celebrate Mass at Our Lady’s Swynnerton on Sunday, 7 Dec. We pray for the
ultimate success of his programme of treatment. At short notice possible
replacement priests were not available, but better news is that the following
Sunday, Fr. Stephen Goodman of Wolverhampton
will celebrate at 6pm., 14 Dec., most probably in the Missa Cantata
form.

November & December Masses
Some Sunday Masses in the coming weeks will be celebrated by priests standing in for Fr. Chavasse. This will happen during the period Nov. 23 to Christmas, as Father continues a stringent course of therapy.
Happily we were able to have Masses for All Saints at Swynnerton and Wolstanton, and at Swynnerton for All Souls. There will be First Friday (Low) Masses at St. Wulstan's, Wolstanton at 7 p.m. on Nov. 7th. and Dec. 5th. There will also be a Mass at 11 a.m. at Wolstanton on Monday, 29 Dec., for the Feast of St. Thomas of Canterbury, Martyr.
The situation at Oulton Abbey is still in abeyance with the hope that there will be a revived interest in a monthly/bi-monthly Mass and the availability of a priest for it. Dame Benedicta is very happy for the Old Rite Mass to be celebrated in the abbey Church.
Christmas: alas there will not be a Midnight Mass in the Traditional Rite in North Staffs. this year, please make personal arrangements, such as Ss Peter Paul & Philomena (ICKSP) in New Brighton. At present there are no Christmas Day morning Masses in N. Staffs either.

Fr. Chavasse Operation
Fr. Chavasse underwent his scheduled
operation on 12 Aug. It took over 5 hours and Father will be in hospital for
another 2/3 days. However the consultant’s prognosis is encouraging and we are
grateful for this report from Anne Roebuck, a Swynnerton Sunday regular, who is
visiting him whilst he remains in hospital.

OULTON ABBEY MASS CANCELLED / SWYNNERTON MASSES
Unfortunately this Sunday's (July 20) Mass has had to be cancelled on health grounds. The monthly Mass at this lovely Abbey church may be discontinued. There will not be a Mass in August, but we have not yet given up on the Sept. 21 Mass.More, but hopefully only brief, concern at Our Lady's, Swynnerton as Fr. Chavasse has to go back to hospital for an operation on his throat on August 12. Your prayers are very much requested. Hopefully recuperation will only mean the following 2 or perhaps 3 Sunday Masses are affected. It is ironic also that Father will not be able to celebrate the Mass for Our Lady of the Assumption, Aug 15. However I am trying to get replacement priests for all these Masses and I will post messages here and on the LMS National Register as to the position as early as possible.

believe, suffering from a swelling of the throat I am told. We await a decision on next Sunday's usual 6 pm Mass. Please do not travel for this Mass without checking beforehand.

will be very pleasantly surprised.
